Abstract
In 2000, Dr. Christian Eggenberger conceived of the Human imbedded Grid (HiGrid) as a metaphor with Grid Computing. The concept elaborates on specific challenges and extensions needed for a model of distributed organizations and teams, which integrates systemic human signals onto a smart infrastructure. In order to achieve sustainable modes of distributed work, the concept considers not only individuals’ capabilities and availabilities but also physiological and cognitive vitality statistics. The presentation addresses among others medical research results to illustrate the feasibility of the concept, while also linking the notion of HiGrid to the well-being of individuals, organizations, societies and last but not least social media platforms (e.g. people clouds).
