SJSU Open Innovation Coaching

Working with Bill Devincenzi, Professor San Jose State University (SJSU),  and Stephen Kwan, Professor  and Vice Dean, SJSU, and IBM, a team of  three  Gary J. Sbona Honors Program students ( Simona PopescuCatherine Fang, Jung Ho Shin) went through a 10-week ISSIP Open Innovation Coaching (OIC) Project.

The project: Team of students design and apply an ISSIP-industry-university open innovation template for “Regions 2.0”.

Regions 2.0 are defined as Smart Service Systems in which different stakeholders, industry, universities, students, and policy makers work together with a vision to create and maintain an upward spiral of capabilities in regions around the world that improves quality of life  for all in a sustainable fashion.  Smarter Cities is a good example of Regions 2.0.

Coaches: Jim Spohrer, IBM Innovation Champion, Yassi Moghaddam (ISSIP Executive Director)

Deliverables:

  1. An introduction video of each student (~ 2 min), Catherine , Jung, Simona
  2. An excel and powerpoint template for an 8-weeks coaching program
  3. A white paper outlining an initial pipeline of projects around Regions 2.0.
