SUMMARY:2025 Spring Servitization Conference and Doctoral Symposium
DESCRIPTION:The University of Liverpool Management School is thrilled to host the 2025 Spring Servitization Conference (SSC2025)\, the biggest and longest-running research conference on servitization established in 2010. \nWith the overall theme\, ‘Evidencing Productivity and Sustainability through Servitization: The Role of Suppliers\, Intermediaries\, Customers and Competitors‘\, SSC2025 will bring together the world’s leading researchers\, practitioners and doctoral students to debate and engage with the theory and practice of servitization. \nSSC2025 will comprise the Servitization Doctoral Symposium (Monday 12th May) and the main Spring Servitization Conference (Tues 13th and Weds 14th May 2025). \nOn Monday 12th May\, we will host our doctoral symposium for PhD students whose research focuses on topics related to servitization (including Product-Service Systems\, services-centric business models\, and service-dominant logic\, etc.). \nOn Tuesday 13th and Wednesday 14th May\, we will follow the established format of a single stream where contributors have an opportunity to present to the whole conference audience and engage in both structured and semi-structured panel sessions to discuss their work. The programme is designed to encourage extensive debate and bridge research theory and industrial practice. The conference will also feature keynotes from senior executives from leading manufacturing businesses. We will also dedicate some sessions to the early stage research which comprise interactive keynotes by leading academics in the field\, debates around emergent research themes\, and poster reviews of proposed projects and doctoral research. A certificate of attendance will be provided on request after the conference by email to the conference organising team.

SUMMARY:Which service systems are changing with globalization/deglobalization?
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]\nChairs:  David Ing and Gary Metcalf. ISSIP Ambassadors to Creative Systemic Research Platform Institute (CSRP Institute)  \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”16070″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]\nDiscussant:\nGary Metcalf\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”16062″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]\nDiscussant:\nDavid Ing \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”17567″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]\nDiscussant:\nMike Wing\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”17505″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]\nModerator:\nZaid Khan\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The KOF Economic Institute at ETH Zurich charted globalization with rapid growth through the 1990s\, that now appears to have slowed.  The slope of KOF Globalization Index has flattened through the 2008 Financial Crisis\, the 2020-2021 COVID-19 pandemic\, and responses to the invasion of Ukraine in 2022.  They pose the question:  “Is Globalization at its end?” \n| Year | Index |\n| 1991 | 43.56 |\n| 2001 | 49.58 |\n| 2011 | 55.32 |\n| 2022 | 57.01 | \nThe service economy employed 35.2% of the world in 1991\, and 49.7% of the world in 2022 (International Labour Organization 2025).  Has globalization reached its peak?  Which service systems are likely most impacted by deglobalization?  What is the impact on enterprises and workers? \nJoin this Roundtable on Systems in Services to share perspectives and gain insight collectively.  The Roundtable operates much like a call-in radio show in the analog age.  Discussion is sparked by a few discussants providing a systems lens on services.  A moderator monitors online chat\, and draws participants in to voice their comments.  The session concludes with reflections in key insights surfaced. \nSlideshows and manifestos are discouraged.  An open systems approach may generate new connections\, both conceptually and socially\, across ISSIP members.  Recordings of each session will be posted on ISSIP video channels. \nReferences: \n\nKOF Swiss Economic Institute (2025) “Is Globalization at its end?” https://kof.ethz.ch/en/forecasts-and-indicators/indicators/kof-globalisation-index.html\nInternational Labour Organization (2025) – processed by Our World in Data https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/share-employment-agriculture-industry-services?tab=table\n\n[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_btn title=”REGISTER FOR THIS EVENT” style=”flat” shape=”square” color=”turquoise” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fdocs.google.com%2Fforms%2Fd%2Fe%2F1FAIpQLSdpq_AXmOgEH_Zb_wizaYF4ji5byEfiZuG0ayK5Q1nnF5M9Nw%2Fviewform%3Fusp%3Dheader|target:_blank”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
