ISSIP Guidelines for Engagement

hands ring teamwork

As our community grows and we interact with more fellow ISSIP members, our goal should always be value co-creation.  I invite you to follow these guidelines for engagement that facilitate value-co-creation:

(1) Politely Agree and Disagree:

Remember the rule of improv: “yes and another way to look at it” to acknowledge different perspectives, instead of “no” which shuts off discussion.

(2) Sharing via Social Media to Reach Others:

Remember to encourage “That would be a good ISSIP LinkedIn Discussion” or “Thanks, please tweet that pointer to #ISSIP”

(3) Newsletter, Website:

Remember conference announcements, calls for papers, new books, significant new ISSIP resources, can be shared on the ISSIP Blog and Newsletter as well.  If you like your content to be considered for the newsletter, please send a note to content@issip.org.

(4) Email Frequency:

No more than 1 or 2 emails a week to ISSIP SIG and other groups.  Restrict use of reply all – this should be used only rarely. Use ISSIP LinkedIn Group instead.

(5) Email Broadening to LinkedIn:

Remember to thank ISSIP Members for their interest in the topic of the email, and that they can find more information on ISSIP LinkedIn.

(6) Email Privacy:

When sending to a large group, either put the list in Bcc and send the note to yourself, or group an email alias to refer to the group.

(7) LinkedIn Respect:

No more than 2-3 comments in a series without waiting for a response, or starting your own discussion thread if you have a lot to say, and invite people to it, and refer back to the original discussion, and thank that ISSIP member for a provocative or inspiring post.

(8) LinkedIn Topics:

Only service innovation related posts, no “off topic” posts that do not relate to ISSIP Activities, Shared Resources, and Interest.

(9) Requesting Information:

Do not request information that is easily found with a quick web search; do the search, and then share the link and some highlights with everyone.

Please share your thoughts and comments below.
